O’Bryan 614 Road Grader – Full Motor Grader Functionality, Powered by Your Tractor

O'Bryan 614 Road Grader - Full Motor Grader Functionality, Powered by Your Tractor

If you manage rural roads, farm tracks, gravel driveways, or civil access routes, you already know the challenge: maintaining a consistent, well-drained surface across Australian conditions, heavy clay after rain, cracked hardpan in summer, loose gravel after a dry season demands the right machine and the right approach.

A self-propelled motor grader is a significant capital investment. It requires its own transport, its own servicing, and carries ongoing overhead whether it’s working or not. For farms, stations, and civil operators who need reliable grading results without running a second power unit, a tractor-drawn road grader is the solution.

O’Bryan Equipment has engineered the 614 Road Grader to close that gap, bringing genuine motor grader functionality to the tractor you already own, with a machine built to proven design standards that have defined O’Bryan earthmoving equipment since 1982.

Introducing the 614 Road Grader

The O’Bryan 614 Road Grader is a truly unique machine. Where most tractor-drawn graders offer basic blade positioning, the 614 delivers the full feature set of a conventional motor grader — engineered into a tractor-drawn format that operators can hook up, work hard, and trust to perform.

Standard features include left and right lift, blade rotation, crowd and side shift, steering, and rear rippers. The 14-foot cutting edge can be extended with blade width extensions from 14 foot up to 18 foot, and optional box wings convert the blade into a highly effective 18-foot box grader — giving operators genuine versatility across grading, shaping, drainage, and finishing work.

Built on 20.5-25 tyres with large 10-stud hubs and a heavy-duty chassis, the 614 is engineered for durability. This is not a light-duty attachment. It is a purpose-built road grader designed to work day in, day out in the kind of conditions Australian operators actually face.

What Can the O'Bryan 614 Road Grader Do?

The 614 Road Grader requires a tractor running 300 HP or more and 4 tractor remotes. With the right tractor behind it, this machine handles a wide range of demanding road maintenance and earthworks applications:

  • Rural and station road maintenance Restoring corrugated or weather-damaged gravel roads to a consistent, well-drained surface.
  • Farm track and access road profiling Shaping and crowning internal roads to shed water and stay passable year-round.
  • Drainage crowning and channel formation Using blade rotation and side shift to precisely cut drainage profiles and prevent surface pooling.
  • Contour bank forming Accurate blade control for building contour banks and earthen structures on agricultural land.
  • Civil site access maintenance Keeping project roads serviceable and compliant throughout a construction phase.
  • Box grading and finished levelling With the optional box wing attachment, converting to a precise 18-foot box grader for finishing work.
  • Ripping and breaking up compacted surfaces The rear rippers break compacted road surfaces and hard ground ahead of re-grading passes.

The combination of blade rotation, crowd, side shift, and steering in a single tractor-drawn machine is what sets the 614 apart. Most operators have never had access to this level of grading control outside of a full motor grader. The 614 changes that.

How is the 614 Road Grader Different from a Motor Grader?

A self-propelled motor grader has its own engine, drivetrain, and operator cab. It is highly manoeuvrable and well suited to large-scale road construction contracts, but it comes with the full overhead of a second machine: transport, registration, servicing, and operator requirements separate from your tractor fleet.

The O’Bryan 614 Road Grader delivers equivalent grading capability — blade rotation, side shift, crowd, steering, rippers as a tractor-drawn implement. When the job is done, it disconnects. No second machine sitting idle, no additional transport costs, no separate service schedule.

For farm operators and civil contractors who already run a 300 HP+ tractor, the 614 Road Grader delivers the grading results they need without the overhead of a dedicated self-propelled machine.

Why O'Bryan? Tried, Tested and Proven Since 1982

O’Bryan Equipment has been manufacturing tractor-drawn earthmoving equipment in Bendigo, Victoria since 1982. The 614 Road Grader is the newest addition to a product range with more than 300 machines currently working in the field across Australia in agriculture, civil construction, mining, and irrigation earthworks.

Every O’Bryan machine is built on a design philosophy refined over four decades of operator feedback and real-world performance in Australian conditions. The 614 carries that same foundation: a heavy-duty chassis, proven componentry, and a machine built to outlast the conditions it works in.

All O’Bryan machines are backed by a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Is the 614 Road Grader Right for Your Operation?

The O’Bryan 614 Road Grader suits operators who:

  • Already run a 300 HP+ tractor and want to add full road grading capability without investing in a second self-propelled machine.
  • Need more grading control than a standard carry grader provides — blade rotation, side shift, crowd, and steering in a single implement.
  • Manage farm roads, station tracks, or civil access roads where consistent surface quality and drainage control matter.
  • Want the flexibility of a box grader and a road grader in one machine.
  • Require a machine that can be unhitched and stored between jobs without dedicated transport or ongoing running costs.

If your primary need is bulk cut-and-carry earthmoving, building dams, moving large volumes of material from cut to fill, the O’Bryan ejector scraper range is the right starting point. The 614 Road Grader and the ejector scraper range complement each other: scrapers shape the earthworks, the 614 finishes and maintains the surface.

O'Bryan Road Grader - Tractor-Drawn Road Grader

The O’Bryan Road Grader is a new tractor-drawn grading machine designed for rural road surface maintenance and site grading. Built to the same engineering standards as the O’Bryan ejector scraper and carry grader range, backed by our 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

It is important to understand what a road grader does and does not do. The O’Bryan Road Grader grades and shapes the road surface — cutting, spreading, and levelling gravel or natural surface material that is already on the road. It does not carry or bulk-move dirt in the way an ejector scraper does. This makes it the right tool for road surface maintenance, not for earthmoving or dam construction.

What the O'Bryan Road Grader is Built For

  • Routine maintenance grading of unsealed gravel roads and rural access tracks
  • Restoring road camber — pushing gravel back to the road centre to re-establish drainage profile
  • Clearing road edge windrows — redistributing material that has accumulated at road edges
  • Light surface preparation for new gravel application
  • Site access road maintenance on civil, mining, and construction projects
  • Farm property road maintenance between heavy grading cycles

Road Grader vs Carry Grader - Which Do You Need?

Choosing between an O’Bryan Road Grader and an O’Bryan Carry Grader depends on what your road maintenance task actually requires.

A road grader moves and reshapes material that is already on the road surface — ideal for regular maintenance passes to restore camber, clear windrows, and smooth corrugations. It is a lower-capital tool suited to ongoing, frequent road maintenance.

A carry grader (such as the O’Bryan 726 Beast) uses a large angled blade to carry material across the grading surface — suitable for heavier grading work where more material needs to be redistributed, including rebuilding road edge material back to the road centre after significant erosion.

If you are also building farm dams, levelling paddocks, or doing earthmoving work, the O’Bryan ejector scraper range is the right starting point — and can often be paired with a carry grader or road grader for complete property earthmoving capability

Frequently Asked Questions

The 614 Road Grader requires a tractor running 300 HP or more, along with 4 tractor remotes. If you’re unsure whether your tractor is compatible, the O’Bryan team can help you confirm before you commit.

A tractor-drawn road grader uses an angled blade to grade and shape the road surface — spreading, levelling, and reshaping material that is already on the road. It does not excavate or bulk-move dirt in the way a scraper does. It is the right tool for ongoing road maintenance work: restoring camber, clearing windrows, and smoothing corrugations on unsealed gravel roads and rural access tracks.

The Road Grader grades and shapes the road surface — it is a maintenance tool for roads where gravel is already in place. The O’Bryan 726 Beast Carry Grader uses a wider 26-foot blade and is designed to carry and redistribute larger volumes of material across a grading pass. For heavy road reconstruction or large-scale grading, the 726 Beast is the better choice. For regular maintenance passes on established roads, the Road Grader is the more economical tool.

Yes. The 614 Road Grader offers blade width extensions from 14 foot up to 18 foot. Optional box wings also convert the blade into an 18-foot box grader for precision levelling and finishing work.

The O'Bryan Road Grader is backed by our standard 2-year manufacturer's warranty.
